Cross Me (feat. Chance the Rapper & PnB Rock) - Ed Sheeran Review
Ed Sheeran is back with his second new single, Cross Me from his upcoming No.6 Collaborations Project with Atlantic Records. Released on 24 May 2019, Cross Me is from the same project as Ed's collaboration with Justin Bieber "I Don't Care".
PnB Rock kicks off the song with his swag rapping style with words "Cross Me" and "If You" being repeated several times during his rap. Ed transitions in with dropping rhythmic beats and mono-synths filling the background of the song. The usage of drum cymbals in various intervals of the track complements and completes this subtle inoffensive pop summer tune. The song's meaning is straight to the point. Do not mess with my significant other or you will have to deal with the brunt of me.
Notable phrase include "If you cross her Then you cross me (Cross me)".
Ed highlighted the following post release of Cross Me, "Before I was signed in 2011, I made an EP called No.5 Collaborations Project. Since then, I’ve always wanted to do another, so I started No.6 on my laptop when I was on tour last year. I’m a huge fan of all the artists I’ve collaborated with and it’s been a lot of fun to make.”
Fun Facts about Cross Me:
- Cross Me was written by Ed, Chance and Rock together with track's producer, Fred Gibson.
- Prior to the release of the track, Ed Sheeran posted an image of himself wearing a No. 3 baseball cap, which is symbolic of Chance and spelled out PnB Rock's name in emoji form.
