  • Classic album

This is as good as rock n' roll gets right here. Pure genius. Love you Tom
  • Great Set

Glad to finally get this album. The bonuses, mastered for iTunes and iTunes LP are great (why can’t more albums be iTunes LP on here?) with full liner notes, photos, etc. I’ve never delved into Petty’s work very much past the hits or later/recent albums, so I am pleased to hear new songs (new to me, anyway).
  • a classic

Did you notice you get a LOT of extras? Great value! Thanks Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers! Y'all cut the price way back when on this album and caught a lot of flack for it. I bought then too. Thanks for putting your fans first. You won't regret buying this album.
  • Great Album that should'nt be diminished by people complaining about the media format

I've purchased this album several times over the years as well but that has nothing to do with the music. This is a briliant album that seems to never get old, even after thirty years. I would consider this among my favorite albums of all time.
  • Pure Petty!

Greatest record! Damn the Torpedoes deserves an extra star. The intro to "Even the Losers" inspired the name of my Normal Noises band. Every song rocks with intensity and pure melody. Even today, the drums jump out so incredibly solid. You really can feel the emotions of the band during this rough moment in their career. I always loved "Surrender" and I remember making my dad drive around Florida to find "Casa Dega". Great job on this re-release! And thanks for adding the bonus videos. I hadn't expected that!
  • great record but not for 5x

I fully agree with reviewer r-smith. I have bought this record at least 4x since it originally came out. cassette, LP, CD twice. I'm not going to purchase it 5x for four songs at $14.99. Thats where I draw the line.
  • Great as always

  • Great music, bad packaging

First a review of the product: If you are like most fans, you have purchased this album at least twice, maybe three times, and already own the songs (LP, tape, CD). The main interest for most of us will be the songs we have not heard before, which one has to pay $14.99 to get. Because Tom Petty, in my opinion, is one of the best musicians in rock history, I purchase all of his music instead of downloading it or copying it for free. I would gladly pay the $4 to get the songs I don't already have, but I am going to take a pass on this one. Now a review of the music: This album is perfect rock music. Power chords, catchy melodies, extremely talented musicians, and excellent writing all lead to an incredible listen. Eight of the nine songs could have been released as singles and been hits. Petty has never made a bad album (and he wouldn't) and he is more about the songs than the music, so it makes it difficult to assert this is his best album, but it has great music. Bottom line: incredible music, bad packaging. Buy this album if you don't already own it, but find the bonus songs elsewhere.
