Awesome... just awesome! DMB is amazing...
ONE OF DAVES FINEST
Ive been a fan of DMB for a while. I have all of his live albums and i mean all of them. This one is just classic though. The setlist is so tight it was there last show as a band in 1998 and is an excellent live recording. Some of the highlights of the show are the Last stop. #41 is great on this album, Best lie in our graves ive ever heard. Rapunzul,Stay, The maker, crash into me are great too. For an encore dave plays the christmas song(very rare live recording) and closes the show out with an amazing all along the watchtower. A must buy.
As good as Red Rocks!
That's right, DMBs first live release "Live at Red Rocks" is legendary. Its what I listened to everyday for about 18 months eagerly awaiting Dave's next sudio cut(BTCS). It established DMB as THE 90s jam band. Chicago adds a lot of pump, rock, and electricity into their mix. Tim Reynold's guitar never sounds better as they decide to amp the strings and tone down the sax and violin for a bit. Victor Wooten's appearance adds more dimension and his solos blend so well with Tim's eloquent and subtle rifts. The energy sustains throughout, Dave seems to be in a good mood and handles the lyrics and acoustic guitar crisply and allows all the members to come together and just let her rip! Alot of fun to listen to. I love Chicago's version of Lying in our Graves. Boyd and Tim have arousing solos.
Victor Wooten on #41...
and Tim Reynolds on LIOG makes this album essential...Winter '98 was the best tour in the 18 year history of the band
worth the buy for last stop alone
the performance of last stop is epic on this recording. it is arguably the best peice of music dmb has ever recorded, regardless of song and or album.
Probably Their Best
I have a LOT of live DMB albums and i think that this one is the best. The setlist is great and i think it is the best i have ever heard the band perform. i also think that this album has the best sound quality of all the live albums which is something to think about.
By big drake
this is daves best live album, i have almost everything he's ever released and this tops the list
My first DMB album (Celebrating 10 years of since this album's release)
I love this album!!
It's my favorite DMB album.....I got this as a 5th grade graduation gift back in 2002 and I loved both of the discs but #41 was my favorite because it was my first time listening to Victor Wooten but thats another story....This album is amazing!!! 5 STARZ!!!!!
Pretty solid addition to the collection
While not as iconic as some of their previous offerings (newbies should get Live at Red Rocks and The Central Park Concert before picking up this one), Live in Chicago has its highlights, most notably the addition of Tim Reynolds on guitar. Casual fans may not hear the difference, but Reynolds' work elevates the songs on this album to new, different heights, particularly The Last Stop and Watchtower. Little surprised at the price (it was 12.99 for months); still, worth the purchase if you have the loot.
Last Stop makes me cry.
