Bridge of Sighs (Remastered) - Robin Trower

First saw Trower at Winterland in San Francisco around 1975. I was a freshman in HIGH school. Best show ever. Back then he was one of the loudest bands touring with a fine sound system. The new band Journey opened for him. My jaw dropped thru Trowers whole set. I saw him every time he stopped in the Bay Area. Never disappointed except when the show was over. This is the only album I ever owned where every song was a favorite. I just turned my 28 year old son onto Bridge of Sighs. His comment “ Why’d you keep this music from me! It’s awesome!”. I told him I had to wait until I thought he was ready. I didn’t want him to go into “Rock Shock”.

The 70’s brought us some of the best rock ever. Boston’s first. “Rocks” by Aerosmith. “Physical Graffiti” and the fourth self-titled by Led Zeppelin. And most definitely right in the mix is “Bridge of Sighs” from Trower. In my opinion the best rock album featuring a Fender Strat. From top to bottom it does not fail. Terrific writing, playing, vocals and production. And Trower’s tone was and still is impressive. Yes, I know Clapton had turned to the Strat in the 70’s, but he didn’t match “Bridge of Sighs” despite great releases.

Listen to the entire album from beginning to end. Not one song here, one song there. The genius is in the entire album.

Hadn’t heard this guy in forty years. Sounds better now because there isn’t any competition. The vocalist is a doppelgänger For Paul Rogers.

I will put this as easy as possible.....talent is talent is Talent!!!!

This is definately a Classic, easily listenable all the way thru. Too Rolling Stoned is at or near the top of blues rock that I love to play air guitar and turn up the volume!

Yes. This is one of the top 25 all-time rock albums. Every power song is a radio hit, and Bridge Of Sighs/In This Place and About To Begin are awesome headphone (or make-out) songs. Great songs, great recording, great vocals, perfect drumming for the songs.

Very Hendrix, psychedelic, and bluesy. Takes me back to when I was making life decisions (13 - 14 years old). Just listening to it again gives me flashbacks of what I was doing - or shouldn't be doing - back in those days. The music has just absolutely fabulous guitar tones. It was a must-have album once you heard the title track or Day of the Eagle back in the day. Every song is worth a listen. You just don't hear guitar work like this anymore. And it'll definitely remind you of Hendrix, but it's no rip-off. Just another unique player in the same period.
